A People for His Name: Why Jehovah's Name Changes Everything

Does God have a name?

Not a title. Not "Lord" or "God" or "the Almighty." A *name*. Personal. Distinct. Something that sets Him apart from every other so-called god humanity has invented.

The answer is yes. And that name is **Jehovah**.

And throughout history, from Genesis to Revelation, Jehovah has always had a people — an identifiable, organized group — who bear that name and make it known to the world.

> **Psalm 83:18** — "May people know that you, whose name is Jehovah, you alone are the Most High over all the earth."

Not "Lord." Not a generic title. **Jehovah**. That's His name. And He wants it known.

Notice the language: *called by my name*. His people don't just worship Him in private. They carry His name publicly. They are *identified* by it.

And the apostle James confirmed the fulfillment in the first century:

> **Acts 15:14** — "God for the first time turned his attention to the nations to take out of them a people for his name."

A people **for** His name.

Not just believers. Not just spiritual individuals doing their own thing. An organized, visible people — united under Jehovah's name, making it known across the earth.

> **Malachi 1:11** — "From the sun's rising even to its setting, my name will be great among the nations."

From east to west. Worldwide. Jehovah's name would be made known everywhere.

> **Micah 4:5** — "All the peoples will walk each one in the name of its god, but we will walk in the name of Jehovah our God forever."

While the nations follow their own gods, there would be a people who walk in *Jehovah's* name — and they would do so forever.

> **Malachi 3:16-17** — "A book of remembrance began to be written for those thinking upon his name... 'They will certainly become mine,' says Jehovah, 'my special property.'"

Jehovah takes note of those who honor His name. He claims them as His own.

## The Question You Have to Answer

The prophecies are clear. Jehovah would have a people — an organized, identifiable group — who bear His name and proclaim it to the nations.

Not scattered individuals. Not churches that removed His name from their Bibles.

**A people FOR His name.**

Who today uses the name Jehovah in worship?

Who today is making that name known "from the sun's rising to its setting"?

Who today identifies themselves BY that name?

The answer is obvious to anyone willing to see it.

> **Isaiah 43:10-12** — "'You are my witnesses,' declares Jehovah, 'yes, my servant whom I have chosen... I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior. I myself declared and saved and made known... So you are my witnesses,' declares Jehovah, 'and I am God.'"

**Jehovah's Witnesses.**

Not a name man invented. A name drawn directly from Scripture. A name that identifies who they are and whom they serve.

## Conclusion: The Name Matters

In a world of religious confusion — where thousands of denominations contradict each other, where God's name has been erased, where churches preach whatever people want to hear — Jehovah's name cuts through the noise.

**It identifies the true God.**

**It identifies His people.**

And it points to the only hope for mankind: the Kingdom of God, ruled by His Son, that will sanctify Jehovah's name forever.

> **Matthew 6:9-10** — "Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your Kingdom come."

That's what Jehovah's people pray for. That's what they work toward. That's why the name matters.

The question isn't whether Jehovah has a people. The Bible answers that clearly.
