Adonai vs. Adoni in Psalm 110:1 — why this Hebrew distinction matters
Hebrew has two words for "lord": Adonai (used only for God) and Adoni (used for human lords — never for God). Psalm 110:1 in Hebrew: "YHWH said to my ADONI..." The Messiah is called adoni — the human/exalted lord form, NOT adonai (God). The distinction is unmistakable in Hebrew. Greek kyrios covers both, making the distinction invisible in translation — and Trinitarian arguments get built on the lost distinction. Acts 2:34-36: Peter quotes Psalm 110:1 and concludes "God MADE him Lord." You cannot make someone something they already are. nwtprogress.com
